The 2012 fishing expo season has come to a close, Today marked the end with the last class of The Bass University in Suffern NY. It was awesome to spend two days with some fishing legends & learn many new tactics to catch fish! Here are some of my notes from the show, some of the notes...
Grigsby: Topwater Fishing
* Topwater fishing can be good from 40 degrees and up
* Braid for topwater use 10lb test, it will improve your casting because it will only be 2lb diameter
*No florocarbon lines
* Spinning rod only for Pop R

Grigsby: Buzzbait
* Bumping objects is a must when your fishing with a buzzbait, you will trigger more strikes.
* Use a trailer hook, it's a must
* When fishing a Buzzbait in open water use a treble hook trailer.

Grigsby: Plastic Buzzbait lures
* Rage Toad & Rage Shad
* Use a Trokar TK140 Swimbait Hook

Grigsby: Frog Fishing
* Fish your frog with 65lb braid
* Fish your frog in open water

John Crews: Flipping and Pitching
* Bobber stop
* Tungsten weight
* Gamakatsu Hook EWG
* Flurocarbon 20 to 25lb test
* Braid 50 TO 65lb test
* Use Missle Crawl Bever, Devil Spear from Berkeley
* Your casting reel should be 7:1 ratio
* Hold your rod sideways to flip, it's all in your wrist. Use your thumb nail to guide the line.

John Crews Punching:
* Penetrating cover
* Look for best shade Available
* Examples of a mat anything providing overhead cover for the bass that is on the surface of the water.
* Bulky ( D Bomb lure) or slim bait, Missile Crawl
* Use this technique to get to fish that other anglers cant reach.
* More then 50% bite on the fall

* Green pumpkin and black blue work everywhere.
* Spawn- Green pumpkin with red flake
*Summer- Candy grass

* Standing timber, lay downs,boat docks, stumps and grass
* Shade factor = fish
* Clear to muddy water

Ish Monroe Frog Fishing:
*Different color frog to the vegetation your fishing.
* Habitat & high percentage spots
* Isolated pieces of cover hold big fish
* Big fish don't move far
* 50 degrees and up
* Colors for frogs are white for sunny days, black for rainy days and what and chartreuse for overcast/partly sunny days.
* Punch in all the seasons
